Letter: Be a man and show respect

The Star reported that in the last three years more than 15,000 Shropshire women had called a charity supporting victims of domestic abuse and they said this was just the tip of the iceberg.

What does that say about the society we have become? Why do so many men get some sadistic pleasure from treating their wives and partners like punch bags?

We have cheapened life. Oh please, can't we get back to being a country where women are respected, loved and valued, not treated like doormats? They can be exasperating and exciting, beautiful or beastly.

We owe them our very existence. God help us to love them.
