Crews from Baschurch, Bridgnorth, Ellesmere, Minsterley, Oswestry, Prees and Tweedale were called at 6.30pm.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said the building was "100 per cent involved in fire" and crews were still working at the scene hours later.

The five appliances included a heavy pumping unit, the incident command unit, the incident support unit, the Land Rover pump and the water carrier.

Several pumping appliances were used to ferry water from nearby hydrants.
