Georgina Haworth, from Shrewsbury, is a motorbike fanatic, but was left devastated on bonfire night when her parents discovered their shed outside their house had been broken into and her Kawasaki KX 85 motocross bike had been stolen.

The 16-year-old, who lives with her mum Deborah and dad Neil in Moneybrook Way, said she was looking forward to getting ready to compete in motocross again after recently having to give it up after she came off her bike in April injuring her leg.

She said: "We were in the house when it happened, and it was quite unbelievable that we did not hear anything - we think they must have been professionals.

"What we think happened is that they got the bike, and then my dad must have scared them off when he woke up for work at about 3am - because they didn't touch anything else."

It was Mrs Haworth who discovered that the green bike, which is worth about £1,500, had gone at about 6am after going outside for a cigarette.

"Mum came and said 'Listen I've got some bad news, we have been robbed and your bike has been stolen'," said Georgina, who studies Animal Care at Walford College.

"At first I was really angry with the people that had taken it, but then I was completely heartbroken.

"Bikes are my real passion, I couldn't believe it, I had owned that bike for about two years and loved it."

Since the theft of the bike the Haworth family have ramped up the security measures for their outside shed.

"We have now put up alarms and mesh on the windows as well as extra padlocks," said Georgina.

The police have been told about the theft and if anyone has any information or saw anything then they are asked to call 101.
