The man came up to the girl in Wayland Road at 3.15pm yesterday.

He is described as white, of slim build, tall with a hood over his face, and wearing a scruffy looking hooded top.

It comes a week after a man attempted to abduct a 14-year-old girl in Roft Street, Oswestry.

He was also white, in his 20s, with black straight hair with a fringe. He was wearing a hooded long dark coat with buttons across the front and a bandana or scarf across his nose and mouth.

Police have reissued an appeal for witnesses to both the attempted abduction in Oswestry on November 5 and the Whitchurch incident.

Sergeant Scott Barnes of West Mercia Police said: "This remains an open investigation and we would ask anyone who may have been in the area of Roft Street in Oswestry at about 7.40pm and who may have seen anything suspicious to contact us.

"It was also the night the Church Street was closed due to a fire so all traffic approaching along Victoria Road was diverted along Roft Street.

"We continue in patrolling the area. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police."

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call police on 101.
