High winds spark Shropshire problems
More than 150 homes lost power and roads were blocked as trees came down in high winds.
In Telford, 158 customers in the Wellington and Arleston areas were left without power for an hour. The connection was restored by about 3.30pm yesterday.
The weather station at RAF Shawbury saw wind speeds of up to 32mph yesterday, and the blustery weather saw at least one tree blown over.
The A470 in Powys was blocked yesterday afternoon close to Builth Wells after a tree fell across the road.
And police warned drivers to be careful as other debris was blown across the roads. Three people suffered minor injuries after the slippery road conditions led to them sliding into a barrier on the A5 at Shrewsbury.
Higher winds continued overnight, blowing at about 20mph in the early hours. But forecasters at the Met Office say the rest of today should be calmer, with wind speeds dropping to 8mph.
The showers should ease off towards the middle of the morning as well, leaving a clear day with temperatures of around 12C (53F).
