Mother of missing Shropshire man Daniel Hodgin issues appeal
The mother of a 20-year-old Shropshire man who has been missing for three days has made a heartfelt appeal for his safe return.
Lorraine Firmstone said she and her family had been searching "day and night" for Daniel Hodgin, who did not return home after a night out in Shrewsbury with friends on Saturday night.
She said they had all been left "devastated" by his disappearance as she relived the last time she spoke to her son in the early hours of Sunday.
Daniel, from Madeley, Telford, spoke to his mother at 5.30am when she called to offer him a lift home. He told her he did not know where he was so she drove into Shrewsbury town centre to look for him, but couldn't find him and then called the police.
Mrs Firmstone said: "He said he would walk home although he was unsure where he was so we drove to Shrewsbury anyway but could not find him.
"We are devastated as any parent would be who did not know where their son is.
"As a family we have been in and around Shrewsbury searching day and night. We have given out leaflets asking for anyone to come forward with any information, whether that be having seen Daniel or any of his possessions."
It is believed Daniel left the Buttermarket nightclub at around 3.30am on Sunday. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Police were today continuing the search for Daniel as concern continues to grow for his welfare.
Officers have scoured sections of the banks of the River Severn in Shrewsbury. Family members have also been searching for Daniel in the Shrewsbury area. They describe his disappearance as "completely out of character".
Chief Inspector Tom Harding of West Mercia Police said: "Concerns are growing by the hour for Daniel with the current cold weather, and we request the public keep an eye out for a man meeting his description and check their gardens, sheds, garages or other outbuildings in case he has sought shelter from the cold."
Daniel is white, about 5ft 9ins, with short spiked brown hair and stubble. He was last seen wearing a grey Police polo shirt, dark blue jeans and black boots.
