Traffic lights at one of the county's busiest junctions should be back working today – four days after they were knocked out by a car crash.

The lights at Dobbies Island roundabout on the A5 in Shrewsbury failed on Saturday when a crash took out three sets of the lights. Chris Friday, a spokesman for the Highways Agency said engineers were sent out straight away.

"Multiple sets of lights were affected by a crash," he said.

"This caused the whole roundabout to be affected. When three are affected the phasing of lights is affected meaning it impacts the whole roundabout.

"Due to the nature of repairs and extensive damage, we weren't able to have them repaired until Monday. Signs were put out and people who needed to be aware of the situation were made aware."
