Van driver killed in Oswestry A5 lorry crash is named
A van driver who died in a crash with a lorry on the A5 in Shropshire was named today as Andrew Hughes.
Mr Hughes, 35, whose family lives in Criftins, near Ellesmere, died following an accident close to the Gledrid roundabout on the Oswestry bypass on Wednesday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision between his Citroen Berlingo van and a lorry.
The crash closed a section of the A5 in Shropshire.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A paramedic in a rapid response vehicle together with a paramedic officer and resources from the Welsh Ambulance Service including the Welsh Air Ambulance attended the scene.
"Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save a male patient who was confirmed dead at the scene."
