Lorry driver in court over death of Shropshire cyclist, 61
A lorry driver has denied causing the death of a cyclist found at the side of the A49 in Shropshire.
Mark Anthony Baker, 39, spoke only to confirm his age and address and to indicate a not guilty plea for causing death of Michael Saunders by careless driving when he appeared at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court yesterday.
The body of 61-year-old Mr Saunders, from Bayston Hill near Shrewsbury, was found on the verge of the A49 between Leebotwood and Dorrington in the early hours of June 23.
Baker, of Clarence Street, Mountain Ash, Mid Glamorgan, is also accused of failure to stop after a road accident and failure to report a road accident.
The accident happened at about 4am on June 23 on the northbound lane of the A49, the court was told.
Baker was released on unconditional bail to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on January 12 and will have a plea and case management hearing on March 9.
