Firefighters tackle Telford skip and chimney fires

Fire crews were called to a chimney fire caused by a log burner near Telford.

No one was injured at the property in Sheriffhales, Shifnal but one man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Theresa Simmonds, spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire, said: "The fire started in the log burner, and then spread to other parts of the property. No one was injured but a male was treated at the scene for breathing in smoke."

The drama happened at around 5.30am today. Fire crews were sent from Telford Central and Tweedale.

Elsewhere, a builders skip containing wood and building material was set on fire around the same time.

The incident happened on Aston Drive, Newport around 5.30pm. Fire crews from Newport were sent to the scene.

No one was injured in the fire.
