The Friends of Wem Pool formally took over the running of the swim and gym centre in Bowens Field from Teme Leisure yesterday.
To mark the occasion, there will be a grand opening tomorrow, and the friends group has invited local people to come and see the pool and the ongoing work to improve the centre.
The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am featuring the mayor, Councillor Mandy Meakin, a lifeguard demonstration and a fun swim.
Cadi Price, membership secretary, said: "This week volunteers, staff and trustees have been cleaning and decorating the centre and yesterday we took over its management from Teme Leisure.
"These are exciting times."
