Woman treated after fleeing fire near Oswestry
A woman was treated for smoke inhalation after she fled a fire that broke out in a kitchen in a house near Oswestry.
Seven fire crews from across the county attended the fire at a house in Old Mill Avenue, Morda, to tackle the blaze.
The fire severely damaged the first floor of the house and firefighters battled for more than an hour to bring it under control.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Seven fire appliances including the aerial ladder platform and the incident command unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Tweedale.
"An operations officer was in attendance and crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and oxygen."
Ambulances and police attended the scene during the drama, which started late morning yesterday.
The fire spokesman added: "The fire involved the ground floor kitchen area of a two storey mid terrace property.
"The ground floor was severely damaged by fire and smoke.
"The first floor was severely damaged by heat and smoke. Adjoining properties suffered damage by smoke.
"One female had to be treated for smoke inhalation."
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was quite dramatic looking. There were emergency services everywhere and smoke was billowing out of the property.
"It looked dreadful and I hope the lady who has been treated is OK."
