The A49 south of Shrewsbury was closed at rush hour as emergency services dealt with a collision involving a car and a motorcycle at the Condover junction near Bayston Hill.

The accident happened at about 7.45am. Three police cars and a land ambulance were called to the scene.

Jamie Arrowsmith, speaking for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "There was one patient, a male in his thirties, who suffered knee and back injuries.

"He was immobilised and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"The driver of the car was checked over and discharged at the scene, he was not hurt."
There was more traffic chaos about half a mile south of the accident as a car and a delivery van collided while travelling north towards Shrewsbury and the Condover junction.
The road reopened at about 9.25am, with police directing traffic around the scene.
