Shrewsbury primary school reopens after body find
Pupils at a Shrewsbury primary school returned today after the premises were shut following the discovery of a woman's body on the grounds.
Three people arrested and bailed over the death of the woman in her 20's found at Harlescott Junior School are no longer facing a murder inquiry.
But the trio – two men aged 39 and 32, and a 31-year-old woman – have been bailed by police on suspicion of obstructing the coroner in relation to the discovery of the body on Sunday. They are set to reappear at Shrewsbury Police Station in March 6.
It comes after a post mortem carried out on the woman's body did not confirm a cause of death.
The school on Featherbed Lane is reopening today following the completion of a forensic examination of the site.
The body of the woman, who is believed to be in her early 20s, was discovered by a police officer just before midnight on Sunday. Her next of kin has been informed but her name has yet to be released.
Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy of West Mercia Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: "I'd like to thank staff and pupils at the school for their understanding and support over the last couple of days.
"We have also been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and there are high visibility patrols to provide reassurance to local people. Officers are also providing support to the family of the deceased."
Reverend Mark Salmon of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Harlescott, who is also a governor at the school, is holding special services to support those affected.
"At the parish church on Meadow Farm Drive we will be opening on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons this week from 2pm until 5pm to make a space where folks can come in, sit a while, light a candle, pray, or just have space to think."
Police continue to appeal for anyone with information to call 101 and quote reference 0566s of Sunday January 4 2015.
