Three arsons in three nights at Telford park
Three trees in the same park have been set on fire for three nights in a row, and the fire service say it could stop them from attending fatal emergencies.
Fire crews from Wellington have been called out to the blazes, believed to be arson, at the recreation ground in Dawley.
The fires took place on Tuesday, Wednesday evenings, as well as last night.
Craig Jackson, watch manager at the station said that arson costs lives and warned the offender or offenders could face prosecution if they are caught.
"The three fires have involved conifer tress and been in the exact same spot in Dawley, on the recreation ground, and we have sent a fire engine from either Wellington or Telford to put the fire out.
"Doing this takes up our time, we could be on the scene for 30 minutes or an hour, it just depends on the size of the fire, but we have to make sure the area is safe before we leave.
"But whilst we attend these fires it takes us away from the station," he said. "If we are dealing with arson like this it stops us from attending house fires or road traffic collisions where someone's life could be at risk.
"I just don't think people understand that when they start these fires the knock on effect they are having. We do not have a lot of vehicles in the area and setting fire to these trees really could cost someone their life."
All of the fires were put out and no no one was injured.
The fire service are asking for people with any information to contact them by calling 101.
