Record breaker as 20,000 enjoy Telford's Beauty and the Beast panto
It was a record breaking panto season in Telford with around 20,000 tickets sold.
Thousands of people visited Oakengates Theatre over Christmas and New Year to watch their production of Beauty and the Beast.
Over the Christmas period there were 47 shows, including a relaxed performance specially designed for people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorder or a learning disability.
Tickets have already gone on sale for this year's panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which will run from December 8, 2015, to January 3, 2016.
Councillor Liz Clare, the council's cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the huge success of Beauty and the Beast and would like to thank our sponsors Trio Furnishings, the cast, our team at Oakengates and of course everyone who came along and supported their local theatre.
"We had fantastic feedback from our audiences and panto fans are already buying tickets for the most popular Christmas 2015 dates so we would encourage people to take a look on the website and book early to guarantee the best seats for next Christmas."
Tickets for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are between £9.50 - £17.50 and are available from www.theplacetelford.com or by calling the box office on 01952 382382.
