Shropshire cottage badly damaged in roof fire

A cottage was badly damaged in a fire in south Shropshire last night.

The blaze broke out in the two-storey building in Mortimer Hill, Cleobury Mortimer, at about 7.45pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was a fire involving a two-storey domestic cottage.

"A lot of appliances were there after the fire had gone through the roof.

"The second floor and roof were well alight.

"Crews used two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus."

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and there were no injuries reported.

Firefighters from Cleobury Mortimer, Ludlow and Telford Central, Bewdley and Tenbury as well as an operations officer attended.
