Shropshire Star reader Stewart Vaughan captured the hungry rat on camera as it tried to steal food left out for the birds.
Stewart, from Donnington, Telford, said: "This chap kept getting the bird feed, so I put some grease on the pole.
"He put his paw on the pole, then he looked straight at me and that's the stance he was in!"
