Police officers from the Newport and Donnington safer neighbourhood teams searched both properties and also found what is believed to be a large amount of cannabis.

The properties were unoccupied at the time of the warrant and no arrests have been made.

PC Lee Thomas, of the Newport Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank the community of Newport for their support in tackling the fight against drugs which brings so much harm, not only to our town, but to communities across the force area.

"We would like to reassure the residents of Newport and the surrounding area that your local police will continue to act on the information we are given to help keep our communities safe.

"No arrests have yet been made in connection with the warrant. The properties were unoccupied at the time and are thought to have been so for over six months.

"Our inquiries continue to help bring those responsible to justice."

The search searched happened on Tuesday at around 2pm.

Anyone with information, which can help police with their inquiries, or on the sale or production of drugs, is asked to call 101.
