Witnesses wanted over two-car crash on A49
Witnesses are being sought to a car crash on the A49 which saw two injured men in their 80s cut from the wreckage.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision at Dorrington, near Shrewsbury on Tuesday, to contact them on 101 quoting incident 331S of February 10.
The crash involved a silver Honda Jazz and a blue Toyota Yaris.
The Honda driver, 81, suffered hip and hand injuries and was taken to the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary. The driver of the Toyota, 82, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with rib injuries and later transferred to the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary. Both are from Church Stretton.
The road was closed for several hours, leading to long queues on the A5 surrounding Shrewsbury. The situation was exacerbated by collisions at both the Emstrey and the Dobbies roundabouts on the Shrewsbury bypass.
Earlier in the day a lorry carrying 41 tonnes of glycerine jack-knifed on the A458 at Harley Bank, near Much Wenlock, and caused chaos as it was unable to move without rolling backwards. Officers diverted traffic and closed a section of the road. No-one was injured.
