David Loach, 30, had been due to face trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

Loach, of Jubilee Avenue in Donnington, Telford, had denied sexual assault in July 2013 and breaching a non-molestation order imposed in April last year in respect of the alleged victim.

Mr Philip Beardwell, prosecuting, said the woman had indicated that she no longer wished to give evidence in the trial and that under the circumstances the prosecution was offering no evidence against the defendant.

Judge Peter Barrie told Loach that, if what the woman had said in her statements was correct, then he should be ashamed of his behaviour.

"She has said she does not want to continue to support the prosecution, but I hope you have learned a lesson from this episode," he said.

Loach, of Jubilee Avenue in Donnington, Telford, left court after He recorded formal not guilty verdicts.
