The scheme to turn Twemlows Stud Farm, near Whitchurch, into a solar farm of 79,968 panels was granted permission at a meeting of the north planning committee at Shirehall today.
The plans have been controversial among residents and members of Skydive Tilstock Parachute Club in Prees Heath which uses a strip of the land as a runway and drop zone as many fear it could lead the club to downsize, relocate or even close.
But the plans were recommended for approval by planning inspectors who said an agreement could be reached which would still allow the club to operate.
