Ticket firm lands West Mid Showground deal
A Midlands ticketing company has landed a three-year contract to run the box office of Shropshire's West Mid Showground.
The Ticket Factory, based in Birmingham, has been appointed for the three-year management contract for the 53-acre showground in Shrewsbury, which hosts the Shropshire County Show and the West Midlands Bonfire, and which attracts more than 100,000 visitors a year.
The decision follows a review of the showground's operations, and is aimed at improving services for visitors and organisers.
Ticket Factory managing director Stuart Cain said: "We've built a strong reputation for handling complex outdoor events as they often need a certain kind of expertise when it comes to setting up the technical infrastructure for online scanning and access control on greenfield sites.
"Last year was the first time that Chelsea Flower Show had used scanners and we handled it without any major issues.
"This experience and our digital marketing support mean we will be spending a lot more time in Shropshire this summer."
Operation
Ian Bebbington, from the showground, added: "We are always looking for continuous improvement in every aspect in the operation of the West Mid Showground and the Agricultural Society and this partnership is a significant step in ensuring that we do just that.
"The Ticket Factory are very well established in the market place and we look forward to developing an effective and exciting partnership, not only for our own customers but also making the West Midland Showground a venue of choice."
Services run by the Ticket Factory will include account management, marketing support and a full box office operation.
It has provided similar services in the past for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Windsor Horse Show, Cornbury Festival and a number of UK music festivals.
