Friends and family of Isaac, who lost his battle with cancer at the end of 2012, have scooted through Shrewsbury's Quarry, run through mud, fire and ice and attended countless fundraisers in his memory.

His parents Gareth and Sonya presented £15,000 to Children with Cancer UK and revealed that fundraising is continuing throughout the coming year. The family handed over the money by the sculpture at the entrance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital that was erected in memory of children with cancer who have been treated there over the years.

The couple, originally from Shrewsbury but now living in Dawley, say the Team Isaac fund has raised about £40,000 since their son's death and already this year has £1,000 in the bank.

Mr Jones said: "When Isaac was poorly we felt so helpless, and hopeless watching him go through his battle. It left us with so much pent-up energy that needed a release and we wanted to do something to ensure his life meant something.

"So we started doing events, like the Mud Run and Tough Mudder series with our friends and family and it just snowballed.

We are so grateful to everyone who has helped."
