Heartbreaking time for Shropshire's Big Brother winner Craig Phillips over mum's illness
Former Big Brother winner Craig Phillips has posted a heartbreaking Facebook message describing his family's pain as his frail mum battles dementia in hospital.
Phillips' mum Brenda was rushed into A&E at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool after suffering from two seizures.
The former builder then spent three nights at the bedside of his mum, who has been battling dementia for 10 years.
In an emotional Facebook message, Phillips – who has a home in Newport and won the reality TV show in 2000 – describes holding his poorly mum's hand while she is surrounded by wires and machines.
The former reality TV star also describes his sadness that his "beautiful little mum" is unable to recognise him or her other family members.
And he tells of his awe at the hard-working doctors and nurses and begs David Cameron to provide more money to the struggling NHS.
Despite the severity of his mum's illness, Phillips says his mum was moved from A&E to a normal ward, where she is now in a stable condition.
The former reality TV star then used his post to express his admiration for the NHS staff who had helped his mum.
He writes how A&E was an "eye opening" and "scary" place which had left him and his sister "speechless".
