Man killed by heroin overdose at his Whitchurch home
A man found dead at his home in Whitchurch died of a drug overdose, a coroner has concluded.
The inquest into Czech national Prokop Koryta, 35, of Dodington, Whitchurch, found that he had died at home between November 19 and 21 last year.
Shropshire Coroner John Ellery heard that Mr Koryta, who worked at Grocontinental at Whitchurch, had moved to the UK eight years ago.
Phil Tyler, Mr Ellery's assistant, said that police had attended Mr Koryta's home after a call from the ambulance service at around 11.55am on November 21.
He said officers found syringes, a spoon, and what seemed to be a controlled substance in his room.
A post mortem carried out by Professor Archie Malcom found that Mr Koryta "had a morphine level in his body which was within the fatal range".
Mr Ellery recorded that the cause of death had been a self administered heroin overdose and ruled it was "drug related".
