Police called to argument at Telford house found cannabis operation
A cannabis growing operation was discovered at a Telford house by police called to deal with a couple having a row, a court heard.
Officers were called following reports of a couple arguing loudly at their home in Summerhill, Sutton Hill.
Brandon Perkin, 21, and Isla Noble, 22, were discovered at the property and the court heard how Noble seemed "reluctant" to let officers inside.
During a search of the house, a "sophisticated" cannabis growing operation was discovered involving 17 plants under a tent with heat lamps. An amount of cash was also found.
Mr Richard Davenport, prosecuting, said: "It was quite obvious the property had been used for drug taking."
Perkin, now of Parish Close, Dawley, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis between May 1 and September last year. He was handed a six-month suspended sentence with a supervision requirement and an electronic curfew for four months.
Noble, who remains at the address in Sutton Hill, admitted permitting a premises to be used for producing cannabis between the same dates. She was handed a 12-month community order and a 12-month supervision requirement.
Recorder Nicolas Cartwright said: "I am not prepared to accept that it was for your own use Brandon Perkin."
Mr Tom Harrill stood for Perkin and Mr Paul Smith for Noble at Shrewsbury Crown Court. An order for costs was postponed.
