Police name man wanted in connection with Telford rape

A man wanted in connection with the rape of a woman in Telford has been named by police.

The attack took place in Wellington last August. Officers took the unusual step of naming Roumel Haylette, 24, who is believed to have stolen £2,000 worth of jewellery from the victim.

Detective Inspector Melanie Paley, who is leading the investigation, said: 'This individual is being traced in connection with a serious crime and it is important he is apprehended as soon as possible.

"Haylette is thought to be a dangerous individual and I would urge you not to approach him. If anyone has any information in relation to his whereabouts please get in touch with police as soon as possible."

The case was featured on Monday's edition of Crimewatch on BBC1.

Haylette is described as a black, approximately 5ft 6, with a bald head and of a muscular build. At the time of the incident he is thought to have had a small goatee beard and a gold top tooth. He also has a tattoo on his chest which says 'fearless' and is thought to have links to the Handsworth area of Birmingham.
