Powys council tax to rise by 4%

A four per cent rise in council tax for people living in Powys has been agreed by councillors.

Powys County council will ask for an extra 77p a week from average band D homeowners.

The annual rate of £1,045.62 is an increase of £40.22 on the 2014/5 figure.

The rise was agreed at a meeting of the authority in Llandrindod Wells yesterday by 45 votes to 14.

The rate does not include the precepts for Dyfed-Powys Police and town and community councils which will be added to the final council tax bill.
