Shrewsbury hospital patients warned of roadworks delays

Patients and visitors attending the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital face up to three months of delays because of roadworks.

The work will take place in Mytton Oak Road from March 30 until June 29.

The roadworks are part of the next phase of the construction of a housing development off the road and are needed to allow a traffic island to be installed.

For the duration of the roadworks Racecourse Lane will be closed with access available to residential properties and local services like the GP surgery via Welshpool Road only.

Two-way traffic lights will be used in Mytton Oak Road during the work.

To reduce traffic delays as much as possible, the lights will be manually controlled during the working day due to the proximity to the hospital.

Overnight, the traffic lights will be vehicle-activated to reduce any delays to a minimum.

A statement on behalf of the hospital says the roadworks mean people approaching the site along Mytton Oak Road from the east on the A5 may experience some delays immediately before reaching it.
