In Pictures: Villagers turn out in force as runners limber up for annual Lilleshall fundraiser
More than 350 keen runners of all ages donned their trainers to take part in an annual village race.
The sixth Lilleshall Monumental 10k race and 2k fun run was held in the village, near Newport, on Sunday.
About 150 people including school children from around the area took part in the fun run and there were more than 200 in the main race, including 71-year-old Kathy Ling.
Helen Holroyd, one of the organisers from the Newport and District Running Club, said: "It was a fantastic turnout. There was bubbly and flowers for the mums for Mothers' Day which was lovely.
"The race itself everyone thought it was great, the marshals were fabulous, everyone was very friendly and encouraging one another and it was thoroughly enjoyable day. We had people from all over the place, and we had 71-year-old Kathy taking part right down to pre-school toddlers in the fun run. It was a super day.
"The conditions were great as well, the rain held off and there was no wind and we were able to keep the runners comfortable.
"People in the village always look forward to it and this year the cricket club are delighted because it will help them sort their cricket nets out, so it is encouraging youngsters to take part in sports.
"There was a major participation from all sorts of ages and different members of the community."
Gill Roberts, one of the marshals and a Lilleshall resident, added: "What a fantastic event. I look forward to taking part and supporting it every year it was lovely to see people in the village coming out to celebrate a day of action and all getting together."
All fun runners at the event received a winner's bag and an engraved plaque was awarded to the first child back from each of the year groups from one to 10. Prizes will be awarded for the first three men and women to cross the finishing line, but results are still being verified. During the last five years more than £6,000 has been raised to donate to sporting activities.
