Neighbours tell of horror over Shropshire woman's murder by terrorists
Friends of the Shropshire woman killed in terror attacks in Tunisia told this afternoon how she had been looking forward to her holiday.
Sally Adey, 57, was gunned down in a museum while on holiday with her husband Robert, 52.
Neighbours at their detached cottage in Caynton, near Shifnal, were left reeling when they heard she had been killed.
Friend Terry Holmes, 66, said: "Sally and Rob are really lovely people, we've always been as close as neighbours can be.
"I always looked after the house for them when they were away.
"I think this was a last-minute booking though, because she only told me they were going away last week. She was so excited about it.
"Sally and Rob had been on cruises before and really enjoyed it.
"It's a crying shame that Sally going on this holiday that she was looking forward to so much has ended in such a horrible way."
Another neighbour, Annette Crawshaw, 73, added: "Sally's a solicitor and the family are really lovely. I don't know what her husband does for a living but I know their children are at university.
"She never had a bad word to say about anyone and really did seem to be a loving, caring woman.
"She loved her children, she loved her job and every time we spoke to her she was always very pleasant.
"It's a crying shame, I really feel for the family. It really is appalling news. I can't believe it's happened.
"You see this sort of thing in the news all the time but you never expect it to happen to someone you know. It's shocking.
"I knew she'd gone away to Tunisia so when I heard about it yesterday I was worried but never thought that Sally could be involved.
"My thoughts are with the family."
Her husband David Crawshaw added: "They were just absolutely fine neighbours that didn't intrude, but were always there when you needed them. We didn't see them on a daily basis, but we always look out for each other's houses when we go on holiday.
"They were both solicitors and they have got a son and daughter - Harry and Molly - who are in their early 20s.
"They were really the sort of neighbours you want, a fine, hard-working family, and Sally will be missed by us.
"You don't ever think this sort of thing is going to happen when you go on holiday, particularly on a cruise, where you are a little bit more protected - normally."
But he said that unfortunately it was no longer surprising when terrorist attacks occurred because "it is going on all the time".
Mrs Adey was originally from Lincoln, and he death has been felt there too.
Bishop of Lincoln the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson said: "I was very deeply saddened and shocked when I heard of the terrible events in Tunisia, and subsequently learned about the impact that has had on the community of Scothern, where Sally Adey's family lives.
"For a holiday to end in such appalling circumstances is beyond anything that we could imagine. My prayers, and the prayers of our diocese are with Sally's family, for Robert and Joan and the community of Scothern, and all those who have been particularly affected by this atrocity."
