The collision between two cars happened at Lythwood Road in Bayston Hill at about 1.50pm yesterday.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said three people were treated at the scene for chest and neck injuries, before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended and assisted the ambulance service in making the vehicles safe.

Motorists also faced rush hour traffic following an accident involving an HGV at the A53 in Astley on the outskirts of Shrewsbury shortly before 9am yesterday.

The road was partially blocked as a result and caused slow traffic in both directions between the Battlefield roundabout and the Astley turn off junction.

It also caused delays at the A5 near to the Preston Boats island.
