A village pub featuring space for touring caravans has gone on the market for £360,000 after closing about six months ago.

The Bridge Inn in Dorrington, near Shrewsbury, has 12 pitches for touring caravans and a shower block at the back of the premises.

Agents Halls, which is selling the business, says it is in good condition and has potential for redevelopment or alternative uses.

Councillor Tony Tudor, member of Condover Parish Council, said he was keen to see the pub reopen as soon as possible.

"We think the pub has probably been closed about six months and we used it occasionally while it was open," he said. "It was more of a restaurant than a pub but it seemed to be well supported.

"It is in a good position on the A49 and it seemed to provide good trade for a while. The tenants didn't use the caravan site nearly as much as the previous ones. There seemed to be very few caravans on there.

"It is a shame to see it lying empty at the moment. Like all village pubs and restaurants, one hopes it is revived and keeps going for the benefit for the village."

The pub itself has a large, open plan bar/restaurant area on the ground floor, conservatory extension, kitchen with ancillary storerooms, and male, female and disabled toilet facilities.

On the first floor, the owner's accommodation features three bedrooms with a separate lounge and kitchen. James Evans, manager of Halls Commercial, said: "The Bridge Inn is currently closed but the property is in good condition and could very easily be trading again.

"The property also has significant potential for redevelopment or alternative uses, subject to the necessary planning consents."

The pub sits on a 2.28-acre site with a Tarmacadam parking area to the front, grassed areas to the sides and a large field to the rear, which has 12 hook-ups for touring caravans and a 517 square foot shower block.
