Trust puts limit on canal triathlon numbers
A limit has been placed on numbers taking part in this year's Montgomery Canal Triathlon.
The Canal and Rivers Trust has imposed at limit of 200 people able to take part in this year's event which takes place on May 9.
It will be the fourth year that individuals and teams have cycled, paddled and/or walked or run the entire length of the canal from Newtown to Lower Frankton near Ellesmere.
Last year 280 people took part with no limit on entries.
Mr Peter Richards one of the organisers said: "It is non competitive and entrants can try one, two or three sections.
"The canoeing takes place this year on the Shropshire part of the canal for the first time."
"Many entrants in previous years , normally leave sending in applications to the last two weeks before the event, but it is feared that many will be disappointed this year as a result of the limit."
Entry forms can be found on www.maesburycanalfestival.co.uk/triathlon.html or telephone Mr Richards on (01691) 831455
Mr Richards is also looking for additional help with marshalling the event.
