Two Shropshire firefighters charged over vehicle and bin fires

Two firefighters from Shrewsbury and Albrighton have been charged with conspiracy to damage or destroy property after ten fires to vehicles and bins in Shropshire last summer.

David Pearson, aged 31, from Station Road, Pontesbury and Kingsley Tolley, aged 36, from Valian Road, Albrighton, have been charged with conspiracy to damage or destroy property in connection with a series of incidents in Shropshire between July 1 and September 3, 2014.

A police spokesman said: "The charge relates to ten vehicle and bin fires reported between these dates. Pearson and Tolley are both part-time firefighters."

Tolley has also been charged with importing of goods with intent to evade prohibition in relation to a separate incident.

The two men have been bailed to appear at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court on April 28.
