The play, which features classic sketches from the show, will be performed at The Little Theatre in Donnington.

Amateur dramatics group, The Little Theatre Donnington Society, which presents five shows a year, will transform themselves into the "insane inhabitants" of Dibley from tomorrow to Saturday.

Society member Vikki Lee said: "Life in the sleepy Oxfordshire village of Dibley is turned upside down when the ancient Reverend Pottle dies and the diocese sends a newfangled female vicar, Geraldine Granger, as his replacement. Her arrival is met with a mixture of wonder and horror from the assorted collection of rural yokels who call Dibley home.

"Autocratic head of the parish council, David Horton, is particularly appalled, and when it becomes clear that Geraldine does not intend to play second fiddle, he resolves to have her removed.

"But in the run-up to verger Alice's spectacularly silly wedding, even David must admit that Geraldine is the best thing to have ever happened to Dibley.

"The audience can relive the arrival of the new vicar, be part of the congregation for Alice's hilarious wedding and meet the many insane inhabitants of the village."

The stage adaptation sources most of its material from the first two series, which was aired between 1994 and 1998, along with references to later episodes. Performances start at 7.30pm. For tickets visit www.thelittletheatre.ticketsource.co.uk
