Cave Records, situated in The Parade in St Mary's Place, Shrewsbury, will celebrate Record Store Day on April 18.

"The event is very popular with our customers," said Shrewsbury musician Joseph Cave, who runs the shop with this wife Becki, a fellow musician. "Last year people flocked to our store from throughout the region and really enjoyed the day.

"We are the only place in Shropshire taking part in Record Store Day, which is held as a celebration of the independent sector. It is the one day in the year when some exclusive vinyl records and promotional products are released and are only available to buy at participating stores – they will not be on sale anywhere else."

Record Store Day was launched in 2007 when more than 700 independent stores in the USA came together to mark their unique culture.

The UK followed suit and 2015 will see the eighth commemoration when all the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music.
