Whitchurch woman jailed for stabbing boyfriend
A 27-year-old woman has been jailed for attacking her boyfriend with a knife during a drunken row in Whitchurch.
Stephen Edwards suffered a cut to his arm and was stabbed in the back as he attempted to escape through a window.
Laura Tinsley was jailed for 10 months after admitting a charge of unlawful wounding at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
Judge Jonathan Gosling said that the drink she had consumed was no excuse because it meant she was out of control.
Mr Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said the incident happened on August 24 last year at the couple's ground floor flat in Green End, Whitchurch.
He said the defendant and Mr Edwards both had issues with alcohol addiction and were drunk most days.
There was a row and Tinsley had started smashing up the flat and Mr Edwards had tried to leave but she had locked the door to the flat.
Mr Jones said Tinsley had grabbed a bread knife and as Mr Edwards attempted to climb out of a window, she had slashed at him with the knife, cutting his left forearm.
As he continued his efforts to escape he was stabbed in the back causing a slight injury.
Mr Edwards managed to get away and went to a nearby supermarket where he helped by members of staff. An ambulance was called and the police and Tinsley was arrested.
Miss Emma Lineton, for Tinsley, said that her client had been angry and drunk but had subsequently shown remorse for her actions.
