Police arrest man, 35, over Telford attempted rape
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted rape in Telford.
The alleged incident happened on a footpath off Whitchurch Drive near to Furrows Garage.
The victim, a woman in her early 20s, was walking along the path on Good Friday at around 4pm, when she was approached from behind by a man.
He then grabbed her around the neck and proceeded to drag her into some bushes, where she fell to her knees.
At this point a young couple appeared further along the footpath heading in their direction, which disturbed the attacker causing him to run off.
The man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and is currently in custody for questioning.
Officers are also appealing for the couple to come forward, as they may also hold valuable information.
