Teacher from Shropshire appears in court over school sex abuse case
A teacher from Shropshire has appeared in court accused of abusing a pupil at a top independent school.
Carol Chandler, 53, of Wellington, allegedly molested the boy, who was under the age of 14, at top independent school St Paul's in Barnes, southwest London, during the 80s.
Chandler is facing three counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency dating between 1983 and 1985. No pleas have been entered.
The charges have not yet been formally put and Chandler has not entered pleas.
The teacher is one of five people charged with alleged historic sex offences at the school as part of Operation Winthorpe – a probe into St Paul's and its prep school Colet Court.
She was released on bail ahead of a plea and case management hearing on July 9 at Southwark Crown Court.
Famous former pupils of the top school, established in 1509, include the Chancellor Mumford and Sons' banjo player Winston Marshall and TV presenter Dan Snow.
