Fire crews rescue horse from slurry pit at Shropshire farm
A horse had to be rescued after falling into a slurry lagoon on a farm near Shrewsbury.
The farmer calling out the fire service's animal rescue team after the animal, called Charlie, became trapped in the pool at Shrawardine yesterday evening.
The crew, which is based at Wellington fire station in Telford, spent two hours working to free the horse.
"The horse was released from the lagoon using strops and an arm loader attached to a tractor at the farm," a spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said.
"Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wellington, and a operations officer and a vet were in attendance."
The horse was released just after 10pm and was checked over by the vet once it was free.
