Puppet musical is a dream come Q in Telford
After a 10-year obsession, theatre director Rich Kee will be living his dream when the musical Avenue Q opens in Telford tonight.
The show by Lionheart Productions, at Dawley Town Hall, stars a cast of puppets and tells the story of people living on an avenue in New York.
Those behind the production have spent months learning how to operate and bring the characters to life. As well as learning how to manoeuvre the puppets, the cast have also had to learn the songs, choreography, chirography and dialogue.
Mr Kee said: "Avenue Q has been an obsession of mine for 10 years and I've kept an eye on the amateur rights ever since it left the West End. My assistant director Kurt and I have recruited 10 of the most talented, enthusiastic and diligent performers in Shropshire to bring a modern classic to our home town.
"The puppets have been made entirely by hand on a tight budget over six months, and it's incredible seeing these characters come to life in the hands of such gifted actors."
The show begins at 7.30pm and runs from tonight until Saturday at 7.30pm. The box office is now open with tickets £10 on the door.
