When staff at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre became concerned that some dog walkers were not picking up after their pets in the meadows surrounding them, they put the word out to county schools.

As a result, the Craven Arms tourist attraction has been inundated with almost 90 posters urging visitors to clean up after their canines. The competition was to design an anti dog mess poster to go up around the site. The 30-acre Onny Meadows, next to the Discovery Centre is popular with dog walkers and tourists, and also plays host to a range of regular activities for families and children.

Stephanie Bellows, who works as part of the education team at the centre, said: "Dog walkers are always welcome to the Onny Meadows at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.

"The vast majority of dog owners are very responsible and show consideration for other visitors to the meadows. However, there are a few people who fail to clean up after their dogs."

Going on display include entries from Ludlow Junior School, Lawley Primary School, St John the Baptist Primary School in Ruyton XI Towns and Kinlet Primary School.
