Homes plan for Shrewsbury farm site backed
Plans to build 15 houses on farm land near Shrewsbury have been approved – despite objections from the local parish council and members of the public.
At a meeting of Shropshire Council's central planning committee yesterday outline planning permission was granted for the development, off Horsebridge Road in Minsterley. The plans sought approval for nine detached homes and three pairs of semi-detached houses.
Minsterley Parish Council objected to the plans on the grounds that the development would add further stress to an already overstretched sewage works and highways concerns regarding lack of pavements and extra traffic. The parish council was also concerned that the site exits on to a road which has already proved to be dangerous in the past.
Objections to the development were also received from 11 members of the public.
But case officer Nanette Brown told the committee that the proposed homes would have no adverse drainage, flooding or environmental or ecological implications and it would not impact on highway safety.
"The existing infrastructure is sufficient to support the proposed development and the proposal will provide affordable housing," she said.
