Tributes paid to 'voice of Telford United'
A man known as the voice of AFC Telford United has died at the age of 67.
Allan Phillips, from Telford, died on Friday at the Severn Hospice in the town and people have paid tribute to him saying he will be missed.
Mr Phillips, who used to run a taxi company in Madeley, where he lived, would organise transport for fans when the club played away games. He was a huge fan of the club and for many years was the voice of Telford United on BBC Radio Shropshire.
A spokesperson for AFC Telford United said: "All at AFC Telford United and Telford United Supporters Trust are very saddened to hear of the death of Allan Phillips, who passed away on Friday. Allan was the voice of Telford United for a great many years for BBC Radio Shropshire as well as running supporters' coaches for away travel.
"He was a true character of the club and will be sadly missed. We offer our condolences to his family at this difficult time."
Many people have taken to Twitter to share their sadness of Mr Phillips' death. Jordan Davies said: "Allan Phillips, the voice of BBC Radio Shropshire and Telford United. Rest in peace." Jonathan Martin added: "A great ambassador of Shropshire football."
