Oswestry's Orthopaedic Hospital already ensured all official visitors including celebrities are accompanied at all times.

The board is to insist that hospital volunteers who come into contact with patients well as staff undertake three yearly police checks - the cost of which will be covered by the hospital.

Saville abused hundreds of victims while volunteering at hospitals and other NHS institutions.

The DJ and charity worker visited the orthopaedic hospital in May 1999 to lay a foundation stone for a new spinal unit.

There has never been any suggestion that he committed any offence during his day at the hospital.
