In pictures: Thousands turn out for Whitchurch Food Festival
Thousands of people turned out to enjoy the tastes and smells of a food and drink festival in the north of the county.
Whitchurch Food and Drink Festival took place on Saturday and Sunday in the town's civic centre and market hall.
The festival, which followed on from last year's inaugural event, was opened on Saturday morning by celebrity chef Diana Beard, who took part in last year's series of The Great British Bake Off and showed off her skills in the demonstration kitchen.
Simon Lyon, one of the organisers, said it had been a terrific event.
He said: "It's been mad, it's been absolutely bonkers all day, absolutely amazing. It's been so full from the moment the doors opened. By 11am we were really almost full to capacity. Every time I went out to the food court it was full of people sitting and listening to music and enjoying food and drink.
"The demonstrations have gone really well and some of the traders did so well on Saturday that they sold out of that day's stock and Sunday's, so they had to go home to get more."
The town's civic centre and market hall were filled with 65 trade stands, with artisan craft people setting up stalls in the town centre to extend the reach of the festival, which was also attended by local MP Owen Paterson. And celebrity guest Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt in Coronation Street before founding his own Saddleworth Cheese Company, was invited to join Mrs Beard in the demonstration kitchen.
Mr Lyon said: "This is the second festival we've run. We tried it last year and it was a success and people who came said it was really good for a first year.
"That spurred us on to do it again and it's been even better this time.
"We had people come from as far away as London and Wrexham, as well as all over Shropshire, and we've seen lots of new faces around."
