Atomic Kitten star Natasha and 5ive band member Ritchie were among the thousands of people who enjoyed the sunshine at the Whitchurch Party in the Park event.

The event saw the town's Jubilee Park rocking on Saturday as visitors were treated to free live music and entertainment for all ages.

Bands included Kev and Dave Soul, Boys Allowed . . . Out, Charli White and Secateurs.

Also performing were Glo's Dance & Cheer and Maggie May's Dance Academy.

Organisers have hailed the event a success and said they were pleasantly surprised to hear that a celebrity couple were among the visitors.

Organiser Nicki Young said: "That is fantastic. I know the guy from 5ive has been seen in the town centre before.

"It was an excellent event and everyone seemed to have a really good day.

"We were lucky with the weather. People seemed to enjoy the entertainment. We had bands, local dance performers, and characters the children were able to get their photos with.

"There was a fabulous take-up of groups in Whitchurch who had stalls. We also had great food stalls."

The Party in the Park took place for the first time to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012. Organisers invite people to go along and bring picnics, blankets and deckchairs.

In previous years, if the sun has failed to shine, the event has moved indoors into Whitchurch Civic Centre.
