Six fire crews tackle blaze at Mid Wales animal feed factory
Six fire crews were sent to tackle a blaze at an animal feed factory in the early hours.
The fire started on the second floor of the Wynnstay animal feed manufacturing plant in Llansantffraid.
The blaze started at about 1.15am on Monday.
The Wynnstay plant was open as usual yesterday. No-one from the company was available for comment.
Chris Peters-Bond, from Mid and West Wales Fire Service, said six crews were sent to the scene – one each from Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinion, two from Welshpool and an appliance and an aerial ladder platform from Shrewsbury.
Mr Peters-Bond said: "Firefighters contained the fire to the second floor of the building and extinguished it using hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras.
"The fire involved machinery on the second floor of the building. The aerial unit from Shrewsbury was used for inspection purposes.
"No injuries were reported. Firefighters left the scene at 4.39am."
